The Studio Theatre, Weston Center for the Performing Arts

Picture
Opened in the fall of 2017, The Studio Theatre is the new home to TLU Dramatic Media and will serve the department for generations to come.  This state-of-the-art performance and instructional space was specifically designed to serve the hybrid nature of the program, and can be used for both live performance and media production.   The venue is immediately adjacent to Jackson Auditorium, as part of the new Caroline M. Weston Center for the Performing Arts.

Jackson Auditorium, Weston Center for the Performing Arts

This 1,100-seat, multi-purpose venue was home to the program  for many years, and is well-suited to large-scale productions.  Spacious dressing rooms and a well-equipped scene shop are adjacent to the stage.  Jackson Auditorium is also the site of a diverse range of programming from across the university, and the broader community.  Students of TLU DRAM often are hired as staff for events at the auditorium, providing an opportunity to apply their developing skills in a professional setting.

This experimental laboratory theatre space serves as home to TheatreXpress, our student production company, and is located adjacent to campus.  A converted "found space" and former retail location, the C.A.S.T. opened in the fall of 2015 and has quickly become a favorite venue for students and audiences alike.  The venue will complement the new studio theatre at the Caroline M. Weston Center for the Performing Arts.

The TUBE • 1015 W. Court Street

This recording studio provides resources for the digital media component of the program.  Students can access a green screen, a recording cove for YouTube and podcast videos, audio recording booths, and photography backdrops.  In addition, it serves as a base camp for filmmaking efforts and production team meetings.

Dramatic Media Lab

Students in Dramatic Media have exclusive access to a 14 seat computer lab, running Mac OSX, Final Draft, FrameForge 3D, Final Cut Pro, The Adobe Creative Cloud, and other software used in content creation.  Many courses are held in this lab, which is available to students 24/7 during the academic year.
